Current and Recent Projects

While working at Microsoft, I have had the opportunity to edit many types of documents, such as articles for the Microsoft Knowledge Base and technical white papers. Currently, I assemble and edit, and then convert to HTML, the Premier and Public NewsFlashes. A couple of the projects I have done while at Microsoft include:

PSS style guide. I updated, edited, and converted the style guide from .htm and .doc form into HTML Help.

Microsoft Sourcebook for the Help Desk, second edition. I did page layout in PageMaker 6.5 for this book, and was the proofreader.

Prior to working at Microsoft, I worked for a small publishing company, Specialized Systems Consultants. While at SSC, I had the opportunity to use my technical communication skills in a wide variety of projects. Here are some of those projects:

SSC's January '96 catalog. I was responsible for the content and for approving all layout and design features.

Inside Linux: a Look at Operating System Development, by Randy Bentson. I was the technical editor in charge of monitoring all editorial revisions and changes to this 250+ page book. The entire book was done using vi as the editor and LaTeX for the layout.

WEBnut CD-ROM. I was the project manager for the first pressing of this 2-CD package, as well as the author/editor for the documentation that came with it. WEBnut is a software package that comes with all the software necessary to install and run your own World Wide Web site. All you have to do is add the PC and the Internet connection.
