The trail usually was clearly marked, either because it had clear tread (ie, you could see where to walk), or it was well blazed (the route to follow was marked). Here, the tread was a bit vague, but clear enough in person to follow it. I scouted ahead a bit to check where the trail led; Doug's now catching up.
